WUF9 World Urban Forum
Maggie Cazal, as the President and Founder of the NGO Urban Planners Without Borders – Urbanistes Sans Frontières (USF) will participate in the World Urban Forum (WUF9) to be held from 7 to 13 February 2018 in Kuala Lumpur.
WUF9 will be the first international meeting after Habitat III (Quito) on Urban Planning. This forum will be very important to implement of the New Urban Agenda and to develop the SDGs actions.
During this international forum, She will be present at several Networking and Side Event to present the vision of USF and cooperation projects with its partners on the topics : Governance, sustainable city and strategic planning.
With the NGO USF and its partners, Maggie Cazal will also be present on France Pavilion to organise Workshops and Round Tables about:
• Affordable housing and cities for all
• Temporary urbanism and inclusive city
• Resilient Territories and the relationship between urban and rural areas
USF will exhibit ten urban projects conceived and developed in France. Theses projects where laureate winners of the USF Award for Sustainable Development about « Innovative urbanism and adaptation to climate change ».
Many meetings with associative and institutional representatives will take place as well as new cooperation will be signed to promote in particular the sustainable city but also the social cohesion of territories to mitigate urban segregation and to better manage slums.
In this objective, USF is preparing a cooperation agreement with the NGO Enda. The title of this agreement will be “Affordable housing, urban governance of slums and the right to the city”.
Our approach is to implement the New Urban Agenda and to prepare actions to promote the Sustainable Development Goals. In particular, Goal 11 on the Sustainable City and Goal 17 on the development of partnerships.
The signing of the cooperation agreement between USF and Enda ECOPOP will be also the occasion to start the preparation of the France-Africa Summit for the Sustainable City which will take place in 2020, in Paris.
